Precautions for manufacturing liquid silica gel mold:

1. shrinkage

Although liquid silica does not shrink in the mold, it typically shrinks by 2.5 to 3 after demoulding and cooling. The accuracy of shrinkage depends to some extent on the formulation of the compound. However, from a mold perspective, shrinkage can be affected by several factors, including mold temperature, temperature of compound release, pressure in the cavity, and subsequent compression.

The location of the injection point is also worth considering, as the shrinkage in the direction of composite flow is usually greater than that perpendicular to the compound. The shape of product size also has an effect on its shrinkage. Thicker products generally have smaller shrinkage.

2. parting line

The first step of the design of the injection mold for silicone rubber is to determine the position of the parting line. The exhaust is mainly achieved by a groove on the parting surface, which must be located in the area where the injected rubber finally reaches, so as to avoid the formation of bubbles and reduce the strength loss of the bonding joint.

Due to the low viscosity of liquid silica gel, the parting line must be accurate to avoid overflow. Even so, the dividing line is often seen on the final product. The liquid silica gel mold is affected by the geometrical dimension of the product and the position of the parting surface
